Trip no. 2 – Greater Gush Etzion

Alon Shvut southern synagogue center. We will begin with a view from the Russian hill lookout and proceed to the unique mausoleum from the period of the Maccabees (Elazar) on thesouthern slope of the hill. Our next site will be at the Biar Aqueduct for a look at the results of the abundant winter rains on the flow of the spring.  We will then proceed to the Kanub range in eastern Gush Etzion on the edge of the Judean desert. We will visit the town of Ibei Hanahal for a view of Tel Tekoa – the birthplace of the prophet Amos – and for a view of the Tekoa desert which played an important role in the rebellion of the Maccabees.  We will conclude with a visit to the beautiful site of Khan Arugot (Arugot farm).
